Ostrich
Egg
(Click onto easch photo for larger
view)
Made using an Ostrich egg that was cut out
on two sides for plastic pictures to fit into that allow the light
to shine through while sitting on the lighted base. The
top is lined with pink silk, accented with crystals,
and holds small trinkets, brown leather chain accents around
the opening edges. The opening on the bottom of the egg, was cut
off center which made the egg higher on one
side.

I took small pieces of egg to build the egg
up on one side which made it appear as a stone wall. The
trees and flowers are carved into the outer shell and I used
antiquing mediums to color the entire egg then sprayed with
a clear sealer.

Emu
Egg
This emu
eggshell was chosen to resemble the antique British Isle Pewter.
The freehand
filigree designs of seashells, splashed water and bubbles represents
the beautiful area before Katrina hits the shores of the
south.

This egg also has a Hawaiian Quilt pattern, however, it
was custom done for me originally as a pattern for
stemware. It is pronounced -- (Lay hoo ah nah nee),
which means "Beautiful Lehua"

"Lehua
Dreams" by:Dania Zempel Hawaii
Chicken
Egg
This
is another variation of the Lehua Quilt Pattern.
**A
Hawaiian Quilt pattern is a "snowflake" fold of fabric, cut
and opened, that is appliqued onto a piece of contrasting colored
material , with quilt batting between it and the under fabric.
The whole piece is "echo quilted/stitched and is the Hawaiian
cultural expression of quilting. It is a very unique style of
quilting, adapted from the missionaries when they first arrived in
Hawaii.

This emu egg
has had the dark, outer layer sanded off and the Fuschia Hawaiian
Quilt Pattern carved onto it, using the teal and white layers. When
this egg is lighted from the inside, it produces a glow of
eggzquisite beauty!

CES0608LD "Wedding Topper"
by: Lynne
DeBoer California
Ostrich
Egg
This
is the wedding cake topper I did for my nephew and his
fiancee.
They love castles and medieval
things and family crests, etc. I used a 20" ostrich egg that I
sanded down first to get rid of the dimples. The filigree
is done in sections so I could include the Cross in the design on
the back. The doors are cut in the shape of a heart and
their medieval-style first initials are included in the carving of
them. Two doves are resting on a golden
Bible.
Inside is a beautiful spun glass
castle with gold highlights and it sits on a silvery, shimmery
pinkie, translucent cloud. The topper sits on a typical
cake topper base from Wilton that was painted gold, and that was
attached to a golden floral edged plate for weight to help support
the egg and
castle. Approx.
